Bestselling Malaysian writer and columnist Oyoung Wenfeng invited ethnic Chinese from around the world (China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Canada, USA) to write their stories about lives as gays and lesbians, and the first volume with 15 real-life accounts will be released as Our Stories in Malaysia and Singapore. Written in Chinese and delving into the depths of the writers’ memories, struggles, dreams and relationships, each piece is accompanied by the writers’ real names and photographs.

Among them, you will find Taiwanese poet, writer and artist Mark Chen Khe Hua, Hong Kong social activist Kenneth Cheung, writers Anthony Man and Song Ge as well as gay and lesbian personalities from all walks of life.

At this book launch, editor and writer Oyoung Wenfeng will meet readers from Singapore as part of his tour to China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore to exchange views on this book and projects. A second volume is in production and invitation is open for contributions (in writing or interviews) for further volumes as well as another book about parents and families of lesbians and gays. Come for this cosy gathering to hear some life stories or tell your own.

“Yiap Geok Khuan, 67, mother of Eileena Lee who’s openly lesbian, told the
crowd why she was there: “This (homosexuality, bisexuality and
transgenderism) is God’s gift to them (gays, lesbians, bisexuals and
transgender people) and is a natural trait. It’s is not an easy journey for
them and as parents, we should stand by them and overcome society’s
prejudices.”" Fridae.com
