The Lies of Liberty – documentary by the Mongolian LGBT Centre

The human rights of Mongolias sexuality minorities lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) persons are denied and violated every day. Existing in twilight between light and dark, unable to speak up, they are citizens of Mongolia. This documentary shows the inability of Mongolian LGBT people to exist, live and breathe in the same way as everyone else in the country, inability to receive the same protection of law as they are targeted for direct and indirect discrimination, violence and hate-inspired brutality, in a daily basis.

LGBT Centre is the first LGBT human rights organisation of Mongolia, established with five founders in February 2007, fighting for the official recognition of the organisation by the Government of Mongolia for nearly three years.

The official recognition as a non-governmental organisation was given to the organisation on 16 December 2009 after much international attention from all corners in the world, following which LGBT Centre initiated and implemented a number of activities, one of which was to make this documentary.

This documentary was made by LGBT Centre to disseminate information about the abysmal state of LGBT peoples human rights in Mongolia and is copyrighted.
