Pelangi Pride Centre Statement on Repeal of 377A

PPC Statement on Repeal of 377A

Pelangi Pride Centre (PPC) is heartened by the government’s intention to repeal Section 377A. This would not have been possible without the efforts of the community, activists, our friends, families, and allies, who have been integral in making it a reality.

While the repeal of Section 377A is a step in the right direction, we remain cognisant that there is still much work to do to make Singapore a safer and more inclusive place for all LGBTQ+ people and their loved ones. We also hope that there will not be additional legislations put in place that will reinforce discriminatory practices against LGBTQ+ people.

To the LGBTQ+ community and their loved ones, we see you and acknowledge the struggles and pain that you have faced. We especially remember those that we have lost along the way due to the far-ranging negative impact of stigma and discrimination.

True change will require cultivating safe and LGBTQ+-affirmative spaces in our society. There is still a long road ahead, and PPC will continue to journey alongside you. Since 2003, PPC has provided a physical safe space for LGBTQ+ people and their loved ones in Singapore. As a LGBTQ+-centric library, we aim to provide resources to educate and inform on LGBTQ+ issues, as well as provide spaces to share our stories, experiences and voices.

To anyone who is experiencing distress or is looking for a safe space, we welcome you to visit PPC. We are open most Saturdays, 2pm-6pm. Do check our socials for the Saturdays that we are open. You can also reach us via the following channels:
